No one ever wants to have to be in the position of staying at one of the Ronald McDonald houses, but the difference of having such a valuable resource for the community cannot be underestimated. Thank you to Rachel Louise for sharing her story.
You have alot of negative feedback. So I thought I'd stop by to share some postive feedback. Last year in my 20 week scan my daughter got diagnosed with a heartdefect. I was utterly crushed. We had to take plenty of trips to auckland. We had our first stay in Ronald McDonald house while I attended scans and appointments. It was a beautiful place to stay. In March of this year on my 37th week of pregnancy I was to move to Ronald McDonald house to have my daughter.
The room could fit 6 people so I was never alone. Being away from family in a truely difficult time is hard. The things we went through felt like utter hell. Watching your baby suffer is what no parent wishes for. After 8 weeks there we got flown to our home hospital. I bet you don't hear it enough but with out Ronald McDonald house we wouldn't have been able to go.
We couldn't afford to pay to live in two places. We probly wouldn't have been able to go.. which would put our baby in a huge risk of dying. It takes a whole finicial burden off a family. People don't relise how much you do for charity's.. It allows family to come and stay with you because it supports families being togther in a truely difficult time. So from my family to the mcdonalds family I just want to say thank you for everything you do for sick kids in nz..
